- For the DROD RPG element, see Trapdoor (RPG).
Trapdoors are platforms that fall away into pit or water when stepped off. Note that the player can wait, or turn their sword on them as long as they want; the trapdoor will stay intact until the player actually steps off of it. Although Smitemasters are too experienced to fall into pits or water, one can accidentally shanghai himself if he is not careful to find his way back to land.
Behavior[]
Trapdoors come in both the pit-spanning and the water-covering variety, and will drop into their respective depths when stepped off. Trapdoors can be dropped by smitemasters, Mimics and Decoys wielding large Weapons and by Constructs.
All other creatures can walk over trapdoors with impunity, including Stalwarts, Guards, Soldiers, and Slayers, despite all being furnished with weapons of their own. When playing as one of these sworded player roles, the player will not drop trapdoors unless he has touched a power token.
Some trapdoors serve as temporary anchors for bridges. When these trapdoors are removed, the bridge and all its contents go sinking or tumbling into the depths, destroying most objects and creatures once on it.
Interactions[]
- See the interactions page for a list of all interactions for this element.
- Dropping all the trapdoors in a room will toggle trapdoor gates.
- Both trapdoors and trapdoor gates revert to their original state when the player leaves the room.
Scripting[]
- Trapdoors are directly affected by one script command: Destroy Trapdoor.
- As should be obvious, this destroys the trapdoors at specific tiles. Any monsters on them will be immediately defeated.
