Roach eggs are monsters spawned by roach queens when they feel threatened. Roach eggs quickly hatch into roaches to defend their hive.
Behavior[]
Formation[]
- Every thirtieth turn, all roach queens (that have a target and aren't stunned) will lay roach eggs in every open tile around them.
- Roach queens will not spawn eggs on open yellow doors, scrolls, force arrows, and trapdoors.
- If the roach queen moved on the turn she spawns, she will not lay an egg on the tile she moved from.
- Between turns 0 and 4 within a spawn cycle, roach eggs will grow until they becomes roaches. On turn 5 of the cycle, the newborn roaches will make their first moves.
- Roach eggs grow and hatch even while stunned.
Movement[]
- Roach eggs can't move.
Vulnerabilities[]
- Roach eggs are vulnerable to sharp weapons, hot tiles, active firetraps, floor spikes, puffs, explosions, briar, and being eaten by adders.
- Roach eggs will die when dropped or pushed into pit, water, or shallow water.
Trivia[]
In Webfoot DROD, roach eggs became roaches after only three turns.
