Something is wrong, Gunthro.
There are known problems with this page. If you are able to fix this, please edit the page and help us out by doing so.

Reason: I'm pretty sure there's much more that can be added to the behavior section.

For the DROD RPG element, see Pressure plate (RPG).

Pressure plates, just like orbs, are used to open, close and toggle yellow doors. Also, like orbs, they can be used to toggle lights and fire traps. They are activated when something weights them down. Pressure plates consist of one or more orthogonally connected tiles.

One use pressure plates, like the name implies, can only be activated the first time they're depressed.

Likewise, multi-use pressure plates are activated every time they're depressed.

On and off pressure plates are activated both when they're depressed and when they're released.

Behavior[]

See the interactions page for a list of all interactions for this element.
  • Pressure plates can be depressed by any non-flying creature or by movable objects, such as mirrors and powder kegs.
  • It is possible for one use plates to be depressed but not activated if something is already standing on them when the player enters the room. It this case, to activate the pressure plate, it must first be released and then depressed again.
  • Even though pressure plates are activated the moment they're depressed, they're only considered released at the end of the turn if there's nothing weighting them down.
  • Pressure plates are released only at the end of a full turn, therefore it is possible to move off the plate for 1 half-turn without releasing it if the player drank the speed potion.

Trivia[]

In DROD 3.0, where they were originally introduced, pressure plates had a different, more realistic look. Their look was changed in DROD 3.1 to make them easier to tell apart.

Before DROD 5.0 the one use pressure plates didn't have graphics for their depressed-but-not-activated state.
