Obstacles are decorative objects that prevent movement through them.

Description[]

Obstacles come in all shapes and sizes. They include rocks and bushes and statues and houses and furniture and beyond. However, obstacles are purely aesthetic and share one function: nothing may enter their tile.

Behavior[]

  • Obstacles act like walls, but disallow seep movement.
  • Obstacles can be placed on top of walls or in pits and water. This is often done for decoration, but can also be used to limit seep, water skipper, fegundo, and wraithwing movement.
  • The only way a character can stand on an obstacle is through scripting, specifically with the teleport to or teleport player to commands, or by modifying a character's coordinate variables directly.

In DROD 1.0, obstacles were an element on the room pieces tab that functioned like 2x2 walls.

DROD 2.0 removed this element. It introduced a new element, also called Obstacle, in the items tab with a wider variety of sizes and graphics. When playing holds with the old obstacle element, modern engines replace them with the first 2x2 rock obstacle.

DROD 3.0 introduced additional obstacle types.
