- For the DROD RPG element of a similar appearance, see Doors (RPG).
Level clear gates, commonly called blue doors, are one of the five gate types in DROD. Level clear gates toggle when every required room in the level is conquered.
Description[]
Level clear gates were invented by the Dungeon Architect's Association as a tool for architects to use when designing dungeons.
Level clear gates exist in either an open state or a closed state. Open blue doors function like floors, while closed blue doors function like walls.
Behavior[]
- Blue doors toggle their state when all required rooms in the current level are conquered.
- Because rooms don't become conquered until the player leaves them, this means blue doors will only toggle during a room transition.
- With the introduction of seeding beacons, it is possible to toggle a blue door more than once.
Interactions[]
- See the interactions page for a list of all interactions for this element.
- A closed gate behaves like a wall, blocking the movement of all creatures except seep.
- A closed gate pins gentryii chain
Scripting[]
Gates are directly affected by one script command: Wait for door to.
Command | Description |
---|---|
Close | Select a coordinate to check if the door there is closed. |
Open | Select a coordinate to check if the door there is open. |
This command is conjunctional with the _MyScript variables: _MyScriptX specifies the x-coordinate and _MyScriptY specifies the y-coordinate of the door being checked. The open/close argument cannot be modified with a variable.
Trivia[]
- Prior to DROD 3.0, open blue doors did not exist, and blue doors simply disappeared when their condition was met. 3.0 introduced both open blue doors and the toggling behavior.
